PASD SAFETY DRILL SCHEDULED FOR THURSDAY, APRIL 2

As part of the implementation of our new internal emergency communication system, the Punxsutawney Area School District will conduct another Classroom Hold Drill tomorrow, Thursday, April 2nd.

Following yesterday’s drill, this additional practice is intentional and designed to help our staff continue refining and strengthening the use of this new system to ensure it is effective, efficient, and consistently executed.

During a Classroom Hold:
Students will remain in their classrooms
Regular instruction will continue as normal
No students will be permitted in the hallways without an escort

A Classroom Hold is a general-use safety protocol designed to keep students away from a situation until it is resolved. This protocol may be used in a variety of situations, including:
Medical (EMS) incidents prior to class transitions
Safety sweeps such as a drug dog search

Please note: This is only a drill, and there is no cause for concern.
